UK Visually Impaired Triples International
Rhiwbina Bowls Club was proud to host the inaugural UK VI Triples International tournament in July 2024. Over 3 days, England, Scotland, and host country, Wales competed for the winners’ trophy, to be awarded to the most successful triple. In a closely contested event, Wales A and Scotland B both finished with an equal number of points, but a superior shots difference gave the trophy to the host team.

Rhiwbina Recreation Club Opening Hours – October
Rhiwbina Recreation Club has been at the heart of our community for over 100 years. The current Covid 19 restrictions have put significant pressures on the hospitality industry, and we have had to react to that accordingly. However, even though Cardiff is in lockdown we are still permitted to be open for family groups to enjoy a safe and relaxing drink and snack together.
To that end we are open from tonight, and over the next few weeks we hope to expand our offer to ensure you have a place to relax and unwind on the weekends. Our Opening Hours for the next two weeks will be:
Thursday: 6-10 pm
Friday: 6-10 pm
Saturday: 4-10 pm
Sunday: 12-5 pm
Bar Snacks available each day
As we progress, we will be opening the kitchen to provide a menu for you and your family. To facilitate this, we have in place two familiar faces, Mike and Cara. Please use the existing email address to book a table or we will try and be flexible if you come directly to the club.
The facility is for members to use and, therefore, we encourage family groups to use this safe and local facility as much as possible, within the rules, to have some fun and support your community club.

2020 Season begins
In the evening of a glorious day of sunshine an official opening of the men’s green by Chairman Hugh McManus and Captain Gareth Williams – Gareth prepares to bowl his first ‘official’ bowl. Where did it finish!
Opening Day 2020
The first activity of the 2020 season. Men’s Chairman Hugh and Ladies’ Captain Jan each bowled the first bowl on their respective greens. All restrictions in place for members wishing to bowl.
Return to Bowls 2020
Following the Welsh Government announcement on Friday , 19th June, Rhiwbina’s two bowling greens will open to members from Wednesday, 24th June. All members will receive information about restrictions to be applied and our online booking system in the next few days.
June re-start?
The green looking good in the morning sun today. Will we get good news this week about a return to bowls?
Mayday!
It seems as if we’ve had the driest May for some years! Preparations are continuing for a return to bowls, but a good overnight downpour would be a tonic for the green. Hoping to receive further information about relaxation of lockdown this week.
